Amorphophallus Titanum (Titan Arum).
Amorphophallus Titanum is a group of plants from genus Amorphophallus which is also a member of the family Araceae. The most well known type of giant carrion flower inside tropical rainforests of Sumatra.


The Sumatran Tiger (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae).
A male Sumatran tiger has huge territory that range between 100 - 200 km2. I can understand why we often heard the news, many people attacked by the tigers, because it's humans who entered the tiger territories and causes habitat loss to the tigers.


Sunda Clouded Leopard (Neofelis Diardi).
Rainforests that become habitat for clouded leopard have been eroded since last 10 years, especially in the province of Palembang, Jambi and North Sumatra. The unstoppable logging in Sumatra has become the one of serious problem for this endemic species.


Sunda Slow Loris (Nycticebus Coucang).
Sunda slow loris (Nycticebus Coucang) is an arboreal primate (living in trees), not on the ground. Sunda slow loris or known well to be called "kukang" by Indonesian people, is a nocturnal animal that start their activities during night till the dawn. While during the day, this omnivore spend time with sleeping and their bites can cause serious allergies due to its toxin.



The Giant Sumatran Corpse Flower (Rafflesia Micropylora).
Rafflesia Micropylora, its species name comes from the smaller opening in the diaphragm. This giant corpse flower found only in the rainforest of northern of Sumatra, Indonesia. The quality of soil where the Rafflesia Micropylora grows has a neutral pH to slightly alkaline, texture-sandy clay loam and coloured reddish-brown. Daily temperatures are 27°C with a humidity of 85 to 97%. Start from producing the flower bud till its blooming it can take up 7 to 9 months, while its blooming period is only 7 - 10 days.

Chimpanzee, Bonobo, Orangutan & Gorilla (Planet Of The Apes).
Chimpanzee and bonobo share 98.5 - 98.7 percent of their DNA with human, 97 percent hold by orangutan, and 96.5 percent hold by gorilla. Orangutans are the two exclusively Asian species of extant great apes. Natives to Indonesia and Malaysia, which can be found in only the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra (Gunung Leuser National Park). Orangutans are the largest apes that live in rainforest of southeast Asia, these apes mostly live in trees (they are arboreal) and swing from branch to another branch using their arms.


Tualang Tree
(Koompassia Excelsa)

Tualang tree is one of tallest trees that grows inside the rainforest of Southeast Asia. Tualang tree can reach 80 meters high. Tualang trees can be found growing in the lowland rainforests of southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, northern Sumatra, and Borneo. Their habitat is the primary tropical rainforests.
